The IRS Nationwide Tax Forum is back in-person this summer. Join hundreds of other tax professionals to earn Continuing Professional Education Credits, network with other tax experts, learn about the latest information from the IRS and news about tax law changes, resolve difficult tax cases, and hear directly from the National Taxpayer Advocate in her Town Hall.
This year the Nationwide Tax Forum is taking place in five cities across the country starting in New Orleans, and closing out in Orlando, Florida.
|New Orleans, LA||July 11-13|
|Atlanta, GA||July 25-27|
|National Harbor, MD (Washington, D.C. area)||August 8-10|
|San Diego, CA||August 22-24|
|Orlando, FL||August 29-31|
Attendees will get a special opportunity to meet the National Taxpayer Advocate and discuss emerging issues facing taxpayers and tax practitioners at her Wednesday Town Hall series from 4:30 -5:30 p.m. at each of the forums. As the “voice of the taxpayer” the Advocate looks forward to hearing from the tax community during the question and answer portion of the town hall event. In addition to the National Taxpayer Advocate’s Town Hall, the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) will be hosting focus groups, presenting seminars, speaking with attendees in the Exhibit Hall and offering attendees an opportunity to resolve their most difficult case with our onsite staff in the TAS Case Resolution Room.
TAS invites tax professionals who are attending this year’s forum to sign-up and participate in our focus group sessions on “IRS Transparency” and “Tax Administration – Post Inflation Act Funding.” The knowledge and innovative ideas shared during these discussions helps TAS improve taxpayer services on these issues.
Please give us your perspective and thoughts in our focus group – look for the sign-up table at your respective Tax Forum.
TAS is presenting two seminars at this year’s forums, focusing on digital communication and how to effectively work with TAS to get meaningful help for your clients.
You do not need to sign-up in advance for seminars, but seating is first-come-first served, so be sure to get there early.
Members representing the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP) and Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) will be present at each Tax Forum location to perform outreach and educate to tax practitioners about their respective programs. For more information about TAP visit ImproveIRS.org and the LITC page at Taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov.
Case Resolution is also back! You can once again bring your toughest unresolved IRS case and one of our advocates will help you get it fixed. The Case Resolution Program can help you resolve one of your client’s most difficult cases. Please note there is a cap of one case per tax business, and we can only assist with client cases. For an appointment, visit the Case Resolution table on Monday before the Tax Forum begins, from 1 to 6 p.m., or go directly to the Case Resolution Room during the three-day event. To expedite scheduling, bring your Form 2848 and a completed Nationwide Tax Forum Case Data Sheet with you.
