Virtual Tax Help

The IRS has launched a new Virtual Service Delivery (VSD) pilot program that provides taxpayers with tax assistance through two-way video conferencing. The IRS conducted a limited roll out of this new video conferencing technology at 10 IRS offices and two other sites. It later expanded the technology to additional sites.

The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is part of this pilot program and is now able to offer virtual tax help for taxpayers in the Tampa, FL area. See news release.

Through this pilot, TAS is able to provide “virtual” face-to-face meetings for taxpayers who qualify for TAS assistance. These taxpayers can visit the Taxpayer Assistance Center in the Tampa, FL IRS office and hold a virtual meeting with TAS employees in TAS’s Jacksonville, FL office.

Taxpayers who qualify for assistance from TAS can visit the VSD site at:

IRS Office, Taxpayer Assistance Center
3848 West Columbus Drive
Tampa, Fla., 33607

Visit VSD pilot program and the 2011 tax filing season for more information.
